This letter of Paul was composed in Macedonia. Timothy was a convert of Paul and of Jewish and Gentile parentage. He was a companion of Paul in his second and third missionary Journey and was ordained by him to become the Bishop of Ephesus Church and was appointed as its administrator which Paul together with Apostle John helped established. Paul often sent Timothy on special missions.
Central to the Letter are the instructions given to Timothy to combat false teachings.
